help us help cady

🩷

hi y'all, i rarely get truly personal on social media anymore but this is something that we cannot do on our own. we need our village.

Cady needs y'all. Jason and I need y'all.

this past wednesday into the early hours of thursday, we noticed that cady had vomited bile at least 4-5 times while we were out of the house. i didn't want to bother our vets at oak grove after midnight until i had a better idea of what we were possibly dealing with. i went online and found an askthevet website and put in all of information... they recommended that we seek out in-person emergency vet care asap. and so, at 3am -ish... we are calling oak grove's emergency line. they determine that we monitor her closely and wait to come in until first thing in the morning.

thursday morning: i took cady in and they run bloodwork and xrays. her bilirubin is super high along with some other values. and give her some meds. at the time we are thinking, liver or gallbladder... pancreatitis... i worked from home and she slept. she didn't eat but she didn't vomit. she would drink water and would urinate but it progressively got darker and darker.

friday: cady did not eat anything except a few treats with her morning meds. she slept, went outside in the very enclosed yard, and took some sips of water. urine got really dark.

saturday: we took cady into oak grove first think in the morning and they ran tests again. her numbers had gone up dramatically. the decision was made to take her blue pearl spring, an emergency pet hospital.

sunday: blue pearl did a ct scan. discovered gallstones (though we later found out they weren't actual separate stones like i had pictured), an enlarged heart, inflamed liver, etc. our sweet girl had a bunch of bad stuff going on inside her little body.

monday: more tests and cady was finally cleared for surgery to remove the gall stones and/or remove the gallbladder completely - it was the surgeons call. thankfully the surgeon chose to remove the whole gallbladder as the thought of it ever reoccurring terrified us. cady made it through surgery.

tuesday: the doctor gave us an update that cady is doing well and she ate actual food this morning. she had been getting her nutrition through a tube in her nose. the doctors say that she will need to be in the hospital an additional 48-72 hours to wean her off and out of her oxygen chamber, wean her off of the painkillers, and get her ready to come home.

we need your help to keep giving cady everything we can to give her the best possible chance at living a long life.

thank you for reading this novel.

love,

jennifer and jason
